Marcel Du Chimp’s Blog #44: Ode to the Icicles – The Silent Strangers Who Came and Went ❄️🐵💭

Ooo-ooo, my human-peoples! Gather close, for today’s blog is a tale of fleeting beauty, silent companionship, and the kind of wisdom only frozen water sticks can teach.

So picture this: After a mighty snow blizzard turned my neighbourhood into an arctic jungle, some of the most breathtaking icicles I’ve ever seen formed right outside my window. Long, shimmering, crystalline sculptures, hanging down like nature’s own chandelier. Every morning, as the sun hit them just right, they sparkled like diamonds, reminding me that even in the coldest days, beauty is everywhere. ❄️✨

I started to think of them as little frozen friends. They didn’t say much (typical of icicles), but they were always there, standing guard outside my window while I shivered inside. The perfect companions for winter’s solitude.

And then… this morning… they were gone.

    No Goodbyes, No Farewells—Just Gone.

I opened my blinds, expecting to see my glistening winter sculptures, only to be met with nothing but empty sky.

    Vanished. Evaporated. Poof.

It was as if they had never been there at all.

I stared at my window for a moment, feeling a strange sense of loss. I had admired them, yes. I had marveled at their beauty, sure. But had I truly appreciated them while they lasted? Had I spent enough time just looking at them?

Because here’s the thing about icicles:

They don’t wait for applause. They don’t ask for attention. And when it’s time to go, they don’t hesitate.

No dramatic exit. No sentimental goodbyes.

They simply melt away, leaving behind nothing but a memory of something once so perfect.

    The Poetry of Impermanence

And THAT, my friends, is the great monkey lesson of the day. 🐒💭

Life is FULL of icicle moments—people, friendships, fleeting encounters, songs you hear once and never again, breathtaking sights you didn’t realize were special until they were gone.

They come without warning and leave without a trace—but that doesn’t mean they weren’t real. Their beauty lies in their impermanence.

Maybe icicles aren’t meant to last. Maybe that’s why they shine so brilliantly in the morning sun—because deep down, they know their time is short.

And maybe… just maybe… the only thing we can do is look, appreciate, and let go when the moment is over.

To All the Icicles We’ve Loved and Lost

So here’s to my frozen friends—silent, beautiful, gone too soon. ❄️

Here’s to all the perfect strangers who pass through our lives like winter’s breath—changing us in ways we don’t realize until after they’re gone.

And here’s to every fleeting moment that we fail to hold onto—but that stays with us forever anyway.

No farewells. No goodbyes. Just melting into the universe, one drop at a time.
