Today, I visited the renowned Colburn School, and let me tell you—this place is buzzing with talent and creativity. Watching some friends take classes there was nothing short of inspiring, but one moment really stood out to me.

I stumbled upon a very special drama class taught by an incredible instructor named Debby. Now, drama classes are always a treat, but this one had an unexpected depth. Debby began by addressing the recent fires in LA and how they’ve impacted the community. She mentioned one of her teaching assistants who couldn’t make it to class today because their home was lost in the fire. While I’ve seen no flames or smoke since arriving here, this reminder hit close to home. Listening to people’s stories and conversations has made it clear—there are so many lives deeply affected by this disaster, even if the physical evidence isn’t visible everywhere.

Debby’s lesson was about keeping promises, and she used a skit with her students to bring the message to life. It wasn’t just a performance—it was a heartfelt reminder of how important it is to stand by each other, especially during tough times. Watching the students pour their emotions into the scene left me with a renewed sense of what it means to be part of a community.

After class, my friends and I rented a practice room and got down to rehearsing a few songs. Why? Because we’re planning something special: 2025 Rise from the Ashes. This event will be a celebration of resilience, unity, and the power of music to heal.

It felt fitting to be at the Colburn School, surrounded by young artists, as we prepared for a show aimed at lifting spirits and rebuilding hope. Music, after all, has this magical way of reminding us of our strength, even in the darkest of times.
